Every new year makes me crave change. Changes in my health, surroundings, lifestyle, etc. For quite some time now I’ve been wanting to create a whole-house color scheme, and the new year has inspired me to get started on my vision. I decided to take the floor plans of my house and Photoshop in the colors that I’d like to see. My goal is to have something neutral, beautiful, somewhat rustic, and elegant. I’m one of those people who is constantly changing her mind about colors, so it’s incredibly important for me to have a color scheme that I won’t want to change immediately.
I have completely fallen in love with the Pottery Barn Color Collections at Sherwin Williams. Five of the colors from the Pottery Barn collection really stood out to me. I have been contemplating these colors for weeks, and I think I’ve landed on a great scheme. I can’t wait to try it out for real!
As you can see, I chose a mixture of different shades of white, some tan, and some gray. I love gray and knew I couldn’t steer clear of it completely in my color scheme, but I am also very fond of the more traditional feel of tan/cream. I also like the juxtaposition between the dark and light. Our house lets in a ton of natural light, so it can handle some of the darker colors, but I think adding the lighter colors in the main spaces will really brighten things up!
What do you guys think? I’m thrilled to get started on this new project and I know it’ll give the house a fresh feel. What’s better than a new look for a new year?!
