As I’m sure all of you moms know … when you have little ones running around, there’s not much time for yourself. That includes time to get ready to go somewhere without children unrolling the toilet paper, eating cotton balls, and squeezing the toothpaste out of the tube. Please say that’s not just me?! So, after five years as a mother, I think I have found the perfect mommy makeup bag!
That’s right … I have discovered some great products and can generally get ready in about five minutes (ten if the kids are in rare form that day). There isn’t much variety in my look these days, but I still like to think that people see me as put together when I leave the house. Mind you, I’m not making money from this: it’s all my own opinions on products I have had great success with. But if you’d like to help support my family, feel free to use the Amazon links at the bottom of this post *wink wink*
Several of these items I was introduced to through Birchbox – I absolutely love my subscription and often never have to buy pesky things like moisturizer and dry shampoo! Some I’ve been using for years, and some I’ve just discovered but I literally love every one of these products and I hope you do, too!
Face
Pore Refiner – I don’t use this every day, but it’s amazing; it smells great and is incredibly soft. The price is well worth it! (and Birchbox has a smaller sample size if you’d like to try it first)
BB Cream – This adds great coverage; plus, the one I use has salicylic acid to help fight blemishes. If you don’t need to fight acne, then use Dream Fresh. Oh, and as a bonus, I also use Dream Bronze to add color to my chest area ;-)
Foundation – I discovered Dream Matte Mousse a while back, and I am in love! Talk about feeling naked – this stuff is light as air and provides great coverage. Occasionally I’ll use Dream Liquid Mousse instead, but it’s not quite as invisible feeling and it gives you more of a glow.
Concealer – As if I need another reason to visit Target, this is the best concealer I’ve used in a very long time. I like that it’s in a stick and you can use your finger or just dab it on where you need it.
Blush – I’ve been a Mary Kay customer for a long time, but the blush is by far my favorite product. I love to use Sunny Spice all year ’round because it gives me a subtle pink tint in the summer and a nice bronze glow in the winter (without being overpowering).
Eyes
Eye Palette – This product was sent to me in a sample from Birch Box and I don’t think I’ve stopped using it since! The colors are great … there’s a nice combination of nudes and metallics to take you from day to night really easily. And the best part is that it has the perfect colors to fill in your brows, too!
Liquid Liner – If you could only pick one product from the list to try, I would recommend this one! I also received this from Birchbox and it has lasted me several months. It’s a liquid liner in pen form so it goes on really smooth and it dries almost immediately. It’s literally the best of both eyeliner worlds.
Mascara – If I’m completely honest with you, I pretty much just buy whatever mascara is on sale when I need it. I’m really not picky as long as it’s black! But, I do like Lash Blast because it gives a lot of volume and is relatively inexpensive.
Brow Shadow – This goes along with the eye shadow palette above, but I thought I’d outline it because it’s so important for a put-together look! Check out this photo for a before and after comparison … unreal, right?!
Lazy Days
On a normal day when I’m just running quick errands and driving my oldest son to and from school, my makeup routine is really simple. I throw on some BB Cream, a little mascara and blush, and brush some color onto my eyebrows for definition. That’s it!
Off to Church
When I need to look more presentable for church, a school meeting, or dinner out, I simply add a few steps to my Lazy Days routine. Pore Refiner first followed by BB Cream and Foundation. If I have terrible dark eyes or am breaking out, I’ll use some concealer as well. Then I add blush, eye shadow for a light smokey eye, eyeliner, mascara, and brow shadow. For a night on the town I just use a darker shade of eye shadow to make a smokey eye.
So … it probably took you longer to look over this post than it would to actually put the look together! But, I hope this can help you find your perfect Mommy look that doesn’t take much time, but makes you feel incredible every day.
