Friends, I’d like to introduce myself! My name is Sam, I am a 23-year-old daughter, wife, and mother. I love to craft, sew, clean, and have fun {among many other things}.
My husband and I got married on 08-08-08 in a beautiful ceremony at a beach on the Space Coast of Florida. Right after our honeymoon we moved to the Bay Area of California, because the husband got a job as the Director of Technical Arts at a Presbyterian church in the area.
We found out we were going to be blessed with a bundle of joy around Mothers Day 2009. Shortly after, the husband started looking for a job that would bring us closer to family. My family was still in Florida, and his was in Michigan.
A few months after we had our little man, we flew out to Indiana to interview at a large church…two weeks later we were moving to the Indianapolis area so the husband could start his new job as Technical Director for Northview Church.
Since then, we have made some wonderful friends, gotten closer to family, and built a home of our own!
In my quest to be frugal, crafty, and well-organized {+ a great mom, wife, and businesswoman}, I have decided to start this Atkinson Drive blog. As you might know, Atkinson Drive is a store I started a few weeks ago specializing in all things gifts {especially gifts in a jar}. My original plan was to keep the Atkinson Drive blog for shop updates & ideas; but I have so many things I would love to share with you that I decided to expand!
My main inspiration for the last few years of my life, has been Proverbs 31:10-31. Many of you have heard of a Proverbs 31 Wife, and I am working towards being that picture of a good wife and mother. The Message version of Proverbs 31 says:
A good woman is hard to find, and worth far more than diamonds.
Her husband trusts her without reserve, and never has reason to regret it…
She shops around for the best yarns and cottons, and enjoys knitting and sewing…
She’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast for her family and organizing her day.
She looks over a field and buys it, then, with money she’s put aside, plants a garden.
First thing in the morning, she dresses for work, rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.
She senses the worth of her work, is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.
She’s skilled in the crafts of home and hearth, diligent in homemaking…
She makes her own clothing, and dresses in colorful linens and silks…
Her clothes are well-made and elegant, and she always faces tomorrow with a smile.
When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say, and she always says it kindly.
She keeps an eye on everyone in her household, and keeps them all busy and productive…
The woman to be admired and praised is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God.
I hope this blog can be an uplifting example of a woman trying to strive to be a Proverbs 31 wife!
