One of the first things I knew I had to fix in our new house was our master bathroom window…as soon as I realized everyone in the neighborhood could look directly in to see the bathtub and the entrance to the shower. Uh…I’m not quite that free with myself. I had heard of people frosting their front door sidelights, so I knew there was a way to DIY this project without spending uber ridiculous amounts of money.
Do you have a similar problem and aren’t sure what to do about it? Read on for some tips and tricks!
Equipment:
Painter’s tape
Rustoleum Frosted Glass spray paint {purchase on amazon.com}
Spray paint remover
1. To start, you’ll need to tape off the window. It doesn’t work 100% but it definitely does help a lot! I would also recommend opening your window so you don’t get high woozy from the fumes.
*Note: The Frosted Glass dries in the air, so you will have spots of frost all over the floor {or tub in my case} but don’t worry, it’s super easy to clean up.
2. With even strokes, spray the Frosted Glass on the portion of the window you want opaque. I opted to only spray the bottom half of the window because I didn’t want to block too much light; not to mention if you can get up there, you deserve whatever you’re going to see.
After the first coat, the Frosted Glass will look really uneven and you will most likely question your decision to do this crazy project in the first place…not that I would know. Just keep going and add one if not two more coats to your desired opacity.
3. Remove the tape from your window and use the spray paint remover to take off any bits of frost that aren’t where they’re supposed to be. And you’re done! Easy right?
Privacy, style, and ease…what more could you want in an afternoon project!?
