Since the husband and I are on our quest to eat right, I have been searching for delicious ways to bring healthy foods into our lives. It’s not so easy with a meat & potatoes kind of guy around. I can’t tell you how grateful I am for the wonderful healthy food blogs I have found; I am learning to navigate the world of good-for-you foods!
This recipe is by far one of our new favorites and I hope your family will enjoy it too…even our little man liked it!
- 1 1/2 C. Broccoli Slaw
- 1/4 – 1/2 C. Bolthouse Farms Chunky Blue Cheese Yogurt Dressing
- 1 1/4 Lb. 93% Lean Ground Turkey
- 2/3 C. Grated Carrots
- 1/4 C. Whole Wheat Breadcrumbs
- 1 Tbsp. Garlic Powder {or more to taste}
- 1 Tbsp. Grated Red Onion
- 1/4 C. Franks Hot Sauce
- Parsley, Thyme, Oregano
- Salt & Pepper
- 5 Slices Sargento Thin Cheddar
- 5 Multi-Grain Sandwich Thins
- Combine the broccoli slaw and blue cheese dressing. Set bowl in the fridge until ready to serve.
- Mix toether ground turkey, grated carrots, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, red onion, hot sauce, parsley, thyme, oregano, salt & pepper.
- Form 5 equal-size patties {5.5 oz each}.
- We used the grill, but SkinnyTaste recommends a different form of cooking.
- Towards the end of your cook time, add a slice of cheddar to the burger. This allows the cheese to get slightly ooey-gooey melted…mmm!
- Bun the burgers, top with the blue cheese broccoli slaw, and dig in!
These are the best turkey burgers I have ever tasted, and I love the fact that they have carrots in them plus broccoli slaw on top. They are so moist and meaty – you can’t even tell they are turkey!
The original recipe is from SkinnyTaste (visit their site for the original recipe and tips on freezing) and I have adapted it some to fit our needs.

That sounds yummy! I’ve never thought about doing slaw on a burger, and I LOVE blue cheese! I buy the Marie’s yogurt Blue Cheese, very similar to what you use.
