When we first moved into our apartment here in Indiana, we had a long barren hallway that led from the great room/kitchen to the garage, little man’s room, and the guest room. I knew I had to do something about it because everyone visiting would see it…but at the time we didn’t have a lot of money. {It costs a bundle to move from California to Indiana}. While wandering Target one day I found some very affordable {read: cheap} black plastic frames. I snatched up a few and proceeded to set up a photo gallery.
Not only did I not have the proper size photos for all of the frames, but the wall was still just a bland space to me. Until I remembered that I had some black and white scrapbook paper left over from another project. I used the paper to make “mats” in the frames that I couldn’t find pictures for. It was perfect!
Since we have moved, we have a similar wall in the house and I transferred the gallery to it. Eventually I will change it up with some more expensive frames and maybe something on canvas…but for now this is so perfect for us.
As you can see, all of the professional photos we have taken as a family have been in a studio with a black or white background. This really lends a cohesive look to the wall, even though the frames aren’t all the same. Keeping the frames all one color also helps with the unified look.
This was such an easy, affordable project and it really has given us some fun interest to an otherwise boring wall!
