I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned this before, but I {HEART} Young House Love! I can’t remember what originally brought me to their blog…though I’m sure it was something on Pinterest; but, I remember reading the blog for days on end. Honestly, Young House Love was the reason I wanted to start a blog! Chances are, you’ve heard of it, but if you haven’t I would definitely recommend checking it out.
John & Sherry just finished writing their first book, and are currently doing a book tour. I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the FIRST DAY of their book tour this weekend in Cincinnati. This stop on the tour was part of a whole book convention. There were book signings, speakers, and a children’s area!
Lucky for me, the first speakers were John & Sherry! They spoke for an hour about different things they’ve learned along their blogging journey. I’m pretty sure everyone else in the audience thought I was crazy for taking notes the whole time, but they were a wealth of information {and just as funny as they are on the blog}!
Before John & Sherry started talking, they took some pictures of the audience…
I’m in there *waving*!
I must admit I have the best husband in the world…he waited in the book line while I listened to John & Sherry speak. I’m SO glad he did, too, because I was one of the last ones to get a book!!! *woop woop*
John & Sherry were incredibly kind and down-to-earth. The husband and I are even thinking about going to see them in Chicago. Maybe we’ll be able to snag a signed book for one of you!!! ;-)
After I got my book signed, we found out that Curious George was at the convention. Of course, we had to go see him, because he is little man’s favorite!!!
After all of that fun amazingness was over, we got to visit IKEA! The husband wasn’t super thrilled about this, but I really wanted to look at all of the great new stuff they have.
This chair was on the front of their newest catalog, and I fell in love. The lines are fantastic, and I can’t get over the classic details.
The husband and I want to have work stations like this one day. There’s such a classic “office” look to it: leather, metal, mood lighting, and a few natural elements. Plus, you can never go wrong with a large map of the world as art!
A big kudos to IKEA for bringing in my favorite color: turquoise! I want these amazing Frode chairs.
I did have to buy a few yards of this bjornloka figur fabric! Pretty sure it will end up being floor pillows for the family room.
The husband wouldn’t let me get this turquoise tray. *sad face*
I bought this {alvine kvist} floral duvet set for our guest bedroom. I’ve always wanted our guest bedroom to have the classic, clean feel of a boutique hotel room, and I think these will be the first step to getting there. {PS – I have great plans for our guest bedroom, and it’s going to be awesome}.
The husband wants this vilmie ruta pillow in his new office at work. How great are those colors? And I love the mod vibe it gives off.
There are SO many great new things at IKEA this season. What are your favorite IKEA finds? And, if you’ve had a chance to get the YHL book, what do you think?
*Don’t forget to check out the first ever Atkinson Drive giveaway {starting Friday, October 26}…you don’t want to miss it!
I wish I was there with you! I would have taken notes too:) Great Ikea picks. That place is addicting!
That would have been awesome…and then I wouldn’t have felt like a complete dork!!!
Honestly, I can’t believe I made it out of IKEA for under $100…I think that’s a personal record!
Ahhh I can’t beleive I didn’t think to stop at Ikea while in town! Looks like you made quite a few great finds! I have the same problem where I can never leave having spent in my budget. Target’s the same way!
It’s ALWAYS a must when we go to Cincinnati! I found myself ‘soaking it in’ the whole way around the store *haha*!
