Exciting night last night…the husband fell down the stairs at work {due to the storms we’ve been having} and had to go to the ER! Luckily, one of his co-workers was there with him and was able to get him in the car and drive him over there. Once they informed me where they were going, I had to wake little man up and rush over. Thank goodness he didn’t break any bones – it was just a bad sprain! So I’ll be most-likely not completing any projects over the next few days since he has to be in an air cast and off his feet for the next week or so. If you’re a praying person, please send up your prayers of healing. Thanks!
Now to our foodie Friday business…
Shakes and smoothies are some of my favorite foods/drinks on this planet. Unfortunately, since I have been trying to lose weight – I have realized how many calories most of these babies have. So, I was over-the-moon when I found that Dashing Dish had posted a Cake Batter Protein Shake that was under 200 calories! In case you didn’t know, I am not only obsessed with shakes, but also with cake batter. Some of her ingredients had me a bit nervous at first, but I can honestly say that I have had one of these shakes almost every day for the past week. As a matter of fact, I am thinking of having one as soon as I finish writing this…
I found this Total Soy meal replacement protein powder at Sam’s Club for around $20. It was the most affordable one I found, and it was vanilla {which I wanted so I could add different flavors to it}. The first time I tried it, I thought it tasted a little like cake batter…with a healthy after-taste *ugh*. When I saw the Dashing Dish recipe I knew it was the perfect powder to use!
You will never believe me, but the “secret ingredient” in this protein shake is…cottage cheese!
Breakstone’s small curd fat free cottage cheese has always been my favorite, so it was of course my number one choice for this shake. I have not been let down!
I love that I can use my immersion blender to mix this shake. It’s so easy to use and to clean – it makes this a breeze!
It might not be necessary, but it’s so much more fun if you top your shake with sprinkles or colored sugar!
As I’m sure you’re dying to make this shake now, visit Dashing Dish for the full recipe…and enjoy!
