Now let’s get down to business.
In my quest to eat better, exercise, and just generally be healthier; I have been working to come up with some delicious – albeit – healthy/low-calorie shake and smoothie recipes. This Snickerdoodle Protein Shake has to be one of my favorites so far! Weighing-in at just under 200 calories per shake, it’s a great way to help satisfy my sweet tooth and work towards fulfilling my nutrient requirements for the day. I am not much of a meat-eater and since I was little have had a difficult time getting the protein my body needs – protein shakes are the perfect solution for me…because I {heart} them! Read on for my super-simple recipe.
Here’s what you’ll need:
Vanilla Protein Powder {I use this kind}
Agave In The Raw {or your favorite liquid sweetener}
Vanilla Extract
Cinnamon
Water
Ice
To mix all of my shakes {and pretty much everything else} I use the pink immersion blender the hubs got me! It’s a wonderful product and I think everyone should own one. If you don’t have an immersion blender, put your ingredients into a blender {not a tupperware container}.
Add 2 scoops of protein powder.
1-2 tsp. Agave In The Raw {I prefer 2}
and
1 tsp. vanilla extract.
Continue with 1 heaping tsp. of cinnamon…mmm!
1 c. of water…
and 1-2 c. of crushed ice. I tend to like a thicker consistency for my shakes and smoothies, so I added 2 c. of ice. You could also add 1/2 c. of water and 1 c. crushed ice for a more flavorful shake with the same number of calories.
Blend, blend blend! I love this part…it makes me so happy. Seriously, it’s super fun to watch the immersion blender work. Or maybe I’m just a weirdo…
It’s even more delicious {and pretty} if you top it with some cinnamon.
Now you have a delicious, healthy, protein-packed shake! It’s awesome for a pre-workout snack. Or a post-workout snack. Or an anytime snack, really. I hope you enjoy!
