So, I have finally started implementing the color scheme I envisioned months ago. For some reason, I tend to get really productive when the husband is away for business. This time while he was gone, I painted the family room, the dining nook, and I completed this lovely chalkboard.
I purchased a set of vintage windows a few years ago (when we first moved into the house). You might remember this one that serves as a large photo frame outside my master bedroom, and this one which used to serve as a backdrop for all of my wreaths.
I haven’t made a new wreath in a while, and the window was just too plain by itself. That’s why I turned it into a chalkboard. To me, chalkboards lend a cozy, homey feel while still looking sophisticated and relaxed – especially when they’re unique like this one!
This project couldn’t have been easier! All I did was thoroughly clean the window glass with my homemade surface cleaner, and after it dried I applied something like 5 coats of chalkboard paint. Once the paint cured, I conditioned the chalkboard with a single piece of white chalk.
I haven’t decided what to put on it yet, but I’m thrilled with all of the options I have. The real beauty of it is that I don’t have to draw anything on it, and it still looks beautiful hung above the mantel!
