Ingredients:
Ice
1 C. Milk {use soy or almond milk for fewer calories}
2 Scoops Protein Powder
2 Tbsp. Light Brown Sugar
Dash of Salt
1 Tbsp. Chopped Walnuts {optional}
Agave Nectar {to-taste, optional}
Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips {optional}
Blend together all ingredients {minus the chocolate chips} until smooth. Top with chocolate chips. I have found that mini chips are better. If you want more chocolate flavor in your shake, blend the chocolate chips into the shake instead of using them as a topping.

While that sounds delicious, 104 calories of this shake is from the brown sugar alone. That’s almost 1/3 of the calories that will result in adding more to the 11 g of fat during the process of digestion. Maybe add fruit or unsweetened cocoa powder with your agave or even a tsp of pure maple syrup if you’re craving a change. But that’s a lot of brown sugar to consume in that form.
I was going to correct Brielle on her error given the nutrition break down listed but then I noticed the nutrition break down lists 4 tsp of brown sugar. Not 2 tbs. 4 tsps is just a smidgen over 1 tbs. So is it 2 tbs or 4 tsp?
Sorry I read that wrong on my phone! It says 6 tsps (4g). Small iPhone screen. 6 tbs does equal 2 tbs!
I guess we’re pulling numbers from different sources. Still. You don’t think 90 calories coming from straight sugar is a lot to drink in something— let alone something you’re intending to be healthy?
AND the nutrition list with the calories doesn’t include the chocolate chips in the listing.
I understand what you’re saying. I’m just offering this as an option. I, personally, have a major sweet tooth, and when I’m trying to eat healthier that’s what I crave. If I can’t get my sweets in a pseudo-healthy form, I’ll fall off the band-wagon. Of course, I wouldn’t eat this everyday nor recommend anyone to, but it’s nice on occasion.
Might have to try this in my continuing quest to find a protein shake my 9 year old approves us–thanks!
I hope it works! :-) You could also try the red velvet…it’s one of my favorites!
I’d drink a protein shake if I could put chocolate chips in it…lol. Thank you for sharing this at the Make it Pretty Monday party at The Dedicated House. Hope to see your prettiness again on Monday. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
You could use Splenda brown sugar…
Link doesn’t work!!
It’s fixed! Sorry about that!
You know, wal mart has a cookies and cream flavored protein. When I mix that with milk, ice, and some sugar free white chocolate flavored coffee syrup it makes a PERFECT shake. Like an Oreo blizzard
