I have never been much for Halloween decorations. But this year I’ve been having a hard time getting into the swing of Fall. So I thought I’d switch things up and do something fun this year! My son is really into mummies after studying them at school. Between his obsession and a recent trip to Target, this idea for a cute mummy skull came together.
The fun part about this piece is that it can be cheap and easy, or more intricate. Totally up to you! You really only need three things to make this project: a wood skull, some mummy wrap, and hot glue or tape. Honestly, I love it with the raw wood. But if you want to bring in some more color, let your kids go wild with paint!
For this super simple cute mummy skull decoration, I took the $3 wooden sugar skull from the dollar spot at Target and strategically placed mummy wrap around it (medical gauze or cheesecloth strips could also work). A few dabs of hot glue on the back and it was good to go! My kids loved how my mummy came out, and asked to make one all their own! We’re heading to Target later today to get another set of supplies for them to let loose on. We’ll hang that one on their bedroom door.
To install your decoration, you can attach a hook to the back of your skull and use a pretty Halloween ribbon to hang it up. Or, you can be like me and utilize Command Strips for easy up and down!
Seriously y’all, if you’re wanting to branch into Halloween decor, this is the way to do it. Simple, affordable, and super cute to boot. I spent less than $5 on this project, and it really makes my front porch look Halloween ready. Plus I grabbed a few other dollar spot pieces that we’ll put up on Halloween to welcome our Trick or Treaters. Follow me on Instagram to see it all come together!
