Thank you Goliath Games for sponsoring this post.
Pick up your favorite game today to enjoy the holiday season and beyond!
This time of year always brings so much joy to little kiddos. But it can be difficult for us parents to help entertain them during the school break, right? I know I always struggle coming up with exciting indoor, tech-free activities for my boys. Read on to see how I turn off the tech and encourage play during the holidays…
Kids absolutely love to play with Goliath Games and Pressman Toys. Sharing them with friends is just the icing on the cake! So … I put together a little party for my boys’ and some of their school friends. In pure “fun mom” fashion, I made sure the snacks and beverages were themed for each of the five games.
We snacked on: Pop the Pigs in a Blanket, Giggle Wiggle Gummy Worms, Doggie Doo Paw-Berry Pouches, and Catch the Fox Food Trail Mix. Of course to wash it all down there was Shark Bite Punch (just mix a bit of Hawaiian Punch and Sprite together with some gummy fish thrown in for extra fun).
After snacking, we let the kids into the front room which had various game set ups so they could split into groups. They are all great for different numbers of kids, and some were just too good to not get everyone in on!
Shark Bite (Pressman Toy) may have been my favorite game of them all! It doesn’t require batteries, the set up is easy, and it’s pretty fast paced so overall it is great for younger kids. And …
You never know when the shark will bite!!
This probably goes without saying … but Doggie Doo (Goliath Games) was the first game the boys wanted to try out. It took us a while to get the doggie to poo, so patience was a virtue with this one. Though it’s still the game they want to play every day!
The little bandit in Catch the Fox (Goliath Games) is trying to steal all the chickens! You never know when he’ll take too many and send them all flying. It’s best to play this game in a wide open area so the pieces don’t fly under furniture … but the kids will have tons of fun picking up as many chickens as they can!
I love that most of these games don’t require batteries – just kid power. In Pop the Pig® (Goliath Games), players feed chef pig little hamburgers and press on his hat. That is, until he gets too full and pops his buckle! This one is really fun for older kids to play with little siblings (who they can help with the colors, numbers, and counting practice).
I may have saved the most fun game for last! Giggle Wiggle (Goliath Games) is the only game that requires batteries in this bunch, but it’s so worth it. Four players fill the caterpillar’s hands with colorful marbles and whoever gets to the top first wins. Of course there’s a catch … this is a dancing wiggling caterpillar so sometimes he’ll throw the marbles! Every child at our party loved this one, and wanted to play over and over again. I’d say that means we had a success on our hands!
We had so much fun turning off the tech for a while and enjoying holiday quality time with friends and family! I’m sure this will become a regular event in our household. And because I want you to share the same excitement with your family, I’ve included some free printable snack labels for you below. Just click on the image to download, turn off the tech, and get your party started!
